Actor Narain, who featured in Lokesh Kanagaraj's 2019 film Kaithi in an important role, recently gave some major updates about the film's upcoming sequel. Speaking to social media influencer Sreekanth Vettiyar, Narain said that production on the film would start in January or February next year. Narain was promoting his latest film Sahasam on Sreekanth's show. Karthi recently confirmed that the Kaithi sequel is one of his upcoming projects. Narain also said that he is in talks for Kaithi 2. As he made the revelation, his Sahasam co-star Shabareesh Varma asked, "But were you not killed in Kaithi?" Pop came the reply from Narain: "No, he has not died, he will not die."

When Shabareesh further probed, "Did they not kill your character in the film?" The actor replied, saying, "No, it was just miss."

Kaithi kickstarted the now-popular Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU), which also includes films such as Vikram, Master, and Leo. However, Lokesh's latest film Coolie, with Rajinikanth, is not part of LCU.

The 2019 film follows a former convict (Karthi) who helps Narain's police officer character transport a group of drugged cops to a hospital. The film also stars Arjun Das, George Maryan, and Harish Uthaman, among others.

Lokesh has a few more projects at different stages of development, including Benz and Mr Bhaarath where he serves as a presenter, as well as a hero role in Captain Miller filmmaker Arun Matheswaran's next. On the other hand, Narain is waiting for the release of Train with his Chithiram Pesuthadi and Anjathe director Mysskin and co-star Vijay Sethupathi. The actor also has an important role in director H Vinoth's Jana Nayagan, which is set to mark Vijay's swansong his cinema before his full retirement from acting to pursue a career in politics.
