Kamal Haasan meets with Prime Minister Modi

Kamal Haasan became a Member of Parliament of the Rajya Sabha on July 25

K Actor-politician Kamal Haasan recently met with the Prime Minister of Indida, Narendra Modi. Haasan was elected as a Member of Parliament of the Rajya Sabha as part of a coalition between his party the Makkal Needhi Maiam and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK).

Kamal took to X and wrote, "Today, I had the honour of meeting the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi ji. As a representative of the people of Tamil Nadu and as an artist, I placed before him a few requests, foremost among them was the call to expedite the recognition of Keeladi’s antiquity."

Keeladi is in the middle of political contention after the head of the excavation mission, K Amarnath Ramakrishna, who, when asked to change his report on the excavations, refused, which sparked the contention.

Kamal Haasan added, "I urged the Prime Minister to extend his support to the Tamil people in showcasing to the world the grandeur of Tamil civilisation and the timeless glory of the Tamil language."

Kamal also gifted the Prime Minister a memento, representing Keeladi.
