Kalaiyarasan’s latest outing in the theatres, Trending, is all set to premiere on Sun NXT on August 8. The film, also starring Priyalaya, hit theatres on July 18 and opened to unfavourable reviews. 

Helmed by Sivaraj N, Trending revolves around an influencer couple who choose to indulge in a cryptic reality game when they lose their main source of income, their YouTube channel. While the initial few rounds seem straightforward, the game starts getting twisted and begins to affect the relationship between Kalaiyarasan’s Arjun and Priyalaya’s Meera. 

Trending also stars Prem Kumar, Besant Ravi, Vidhya Borgia, and Shivanya. An excerpt from CE’s review of the film reads, “If Trending were a social media platform, its intriguing premise would be the promising content, and the illogical decisions made by the lead couple would be the bad algorithm. Even though losing their channel doesn’t exactly render them homeless, Arjun and Meera still decide to play a game proposed by a random stranger and then continue playing even as it begins to tear apart their lives and relationship.” 

Backed by Meenakshi Anand and Anand G under the Ram Film Factory banner, Trending has a technical crew comprising editor Nagooran Ramachandran, cinematographer Praveen Balu and composer Sam CS.
