Dhanush, the star of Aanand L Rai's Raanjhanaa, has released a statement regarding the film's climax, which was altered by artificial intelligence (AI). Raanjhanaa, which was re-released in theatres on August 1, had its ending altered by its production company, Eros International.

In the statement which was posted to X, the actor said, " The re-release of Raanjhanaa with an AI-altered climax has completely disturbed me." He added, "This alternate ending has stripped the film of its very soul, and the concerned parties went ahead with it despite my clear objection. This is not the film I committed 12 years ago."

Raanjhanaa's originally ended with Kundan (Dhanush) dying at the hospital after being assassinated, was changed for a more happier ending.

On the topic of AI being used, the actor said, "The use of AI to alter films or content is a deeply concerning precedent for both art and artists. It threatens the integrity of storytelling and the legacy of cinema. I sincerely hope that strciter regulations are put in place to prevent such practices in the future."

Raanjhanaa, which was released in 2013, was directed by Aanand L Rai, also starred Sonam Kapoor, Abhay Deol, Swara Bhaskar, and Mohammad Zeeshan Ayyub.
