Post-production works are in full swing for Coolie, Rajinikanth's upcoming film with director Lokesh Kanagaraj. With hours to go for the film's trailer release, Sound Parti Studios announced that Upendra has dubbed for his portions in the film. The actor portrays a character known as Kaleesha in the film. In a recent conversation with India Today Digital, Upendra described his collaboration with Rajinikanth on the film as a "dream come true moment," which was "long due." Coolie also stars Nagarjuna, Soubin Shahir, Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj, Aamir Khan and Pooja Hegde, among others.
The film marks the first collaboration between Rajinikanth and Lokesh as well as the former and Shruti Haasan. It reunites Rajinikanth with his Mr Bharath (1986) co-star Sathyaraj. Produced by Kalanithi Maran's Sun Pictures banner, Coolie is slated for an August 14 release in theatres worldwide. The marks Rajinikanth's 171st film as an actor, and its release coincides with the actor's 50th anniversary of his career in cinema.
Meanwhile, the film received an 'A' certificate from the Censor Board the other day. Lokesh has been saying that the film does not compromise on action and violence in Coolie, making it a distinct film in Rajinikanth's recent career.
