After the film was set to release last November and pushed indefinitely, stunt choreographer Anl Arasu's directorial debut, Phoenix, finally gets a release.

The makers of the film that marks the lead debut of actor Vijay Sethupathi's son Surya announced on Friday that it would release in theaters on July 4.

The cast of Phoenix also includes Varalaxmi Sarathkumar and Harish Uthaman.

The teaser that was released earlier depicted Surya as a professional boxer who goes behind bars for a mysterious reason. According to the trailer, he treats boxing with the same importance as his life, but it also shows someone else planning a jailbreak.

Surya has appeared as a child artist in his father's films Naanum Rowdy Dhaan and Sindhubaadh. The star cast of Phoenix also includes Muthukumar, Sampath, Dileepan, Vignesh, Varsha Viswanath, Abi Nakshatra, Sathya NJ, 'Atti' Rishi, and Poovaiyar.

Anl Arasu himself doubles up as the stunt choreographer for the film. The technical crew of Phoenix also includes music director Sam CS, cinematographer R Velraj, and editor Praveen KL.
