KombuSeevi glimpse: Shanmuga Pandian-Ponram promise gritty actioner

The film also stars R Sarathkumar in a key role

The makers of KombuSeevi released a glimpse video for the film on Sunday, which marks the late Vijayakanth's son and its star Shanmuga Pandian's birthday. The video starts with the text, "Once upon a time in Usilampatti, there lived a Pandi." Then, it introduces Shanmuga Pandian's character, as he breaks into what seems like a police station and gets into an altercation with a cop. In the caption for the post releasing the glimpse, the makers revealed that the film is set in "an era of grit, glory, and ultimate alaparai" and depicts the "wild west vibes of Usilampatti." When the makers released the first look for the film last year, they mentioned that it is made on the basis of real events that took place around 1996 in Usilampatti and Andipatti.

The film is written and directed by Ponram, known for Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam, and also stars R Sarathkumar in a key role. The cast also includes Kaali Venkat, Kalki Raja, and Tharnika. On the technical front, it has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja, cinematography by Balasubramaniem, and editing by Dinesh Ponnuraj, as well as action choreography by Phoenix Prabhu and Saravana Sakthi. Produced by Mukesh T Chelliah under the Star Cinemas banner, KombuSeevi is yet to have a release date.
