Actor-composer GV Prakash's 25th film, Kingston, which was released in theatres on March 7, got a digital release date on Thursday.

The film marked GV Prakash's debut as a producer under his Parallel Universe Pictures banner. The makers of the film announced that it will premiere on television and OTT platforms simultaneously in Zee Tamil and Zee5 on April 13 at 12:00 PM.

Kingston mostly opened to unfavourable reviews upon its release. An excerpt from the CE review of the film reads, "Any film that promotes itself as "India/Tamil's first-ever—insert random sub-genre here—film" seems to be an instant red flag. Except for its grating sound mixing, Kingston seems to exhibit technical competency, and you could see how it could have offered an entertaining genre film. The director seems to have observed how some of the best creature films, like Jaws and the first Jurassic Park, greatly benefited from keeping their creatures in the shadows until the very end. The 'sea monsters' in Kingston show up late in the film, building all the intrigue, we even forgive the chaotic storytelling and patiently wait in the hopes for the pay-off in the end. The disappointment is compounded when the sub-genre is disrespected and we realise that the 'sea monsters' are merely distractions while the main antagonist happens to be a plain old ghost."

While Divyabharathi plays the leading lady, the rest of the cast includes Chetan, Azhagam Perumaal, Antony, Sabumon Abdusamad, Arunachaleswaran, and Rajesh Balachandiran. The film has music by GV Prakash himself, cinematography by Gokul Benoy, editing by San Lokesh, and art direction by SS Moorthy.
