Director Mohan G arrested for controversial 'prasadham' statement

The filmmaker had allegedly made a remark on the Panchamirtham offered in the Palani temple

On Tuesday, it was reported that director Mohan G was arrested by the Cyber Crime Police wing of Tiruchirappalli. Mohan had mentioned in a video that tablets that could make people impotent were mixed in the Panchamirtham offered to devotees in the Palani Murugan temple. Mohan also mentioned that contraceptive pills were mixed in the prasadham and that the concerned authorities must make sure these issues are dealt with. The Panchamirtham is considered to be a sacred offering from the famous temple. 

Mohan's arrest and statements come on top of the recent news and outrage surrounding the use of adulterated ghee in laddus offered in the Tirupati temple. According to reports, the filmmaker was arrested at his Kasimedu residence.

He is known for making films like Pazhaya Vannarapettai (2016), Draupathi (2020), Rudra Thandavam (2021), and Bakasuran (2022).
