Pechi, the horror film starring Gayathrie Shankar and Bala Saravanan in lead roles, will premiere on Prime Video and Aha Tamil on Friday. The film hit theatres on August 2 and opened to average reviews.

Ramachandran B is the writer and director of Pechi. The film is based on an eponymous short film directed by legendary filmmaker Balu Mahendra. The film reportedly revolves around age-old practices such as black magic and witchcraft.

An excerpt from the CE review of Pechi reads, "Initially, Pechi does a good job of capturing and holding our interest as it convincingly sets up the forest as a hotbed of superstition with minimal background music. However, whatever little sign of novelty the film exhibits initially starts to wear thin soon."

Pechi's story comes from Ramachandran B and Vasanth Kumar. The film also stars Dev in a supporting role. Pechi features music composed by Rajesh Murugesan, cinematography by Parthiban, editing by Ignatious Aswin, and production design by Kumar Gangappan.
