Prabhu Deva's iconic 'Pettai Rap' song gets a re-mix version for his upcoming film

'Pettai Rap' song was a sensation when it released back in 1994. Prabhu Deva, along with Vadivelu break into a western-style dance in a Bharatnatyam institution. Three decades later, the song still stays fresh in audience's minds. The song has now received a new twist with a remastered version for Prabhu Deva's upcoming film of the same name.

Written by Dinil PK, Petta Rap marks the Tamil directorial debut of SJ Sinu, who is known for helming Malayalam films like Theru (2023) and Djibouti (2021). 

Music composer D Imman has preserved the original lyrics and singers' tune in the new version, while adding a peppier undertone.

Apart from Prabhu Deva, Petta Rap also stars Vedhika in the lead. Bagavathi Perumal, Vivek Prasanna, Ramesh Thilak, Mime Gopi, and Riyaz Khan are also part of the cast.

Jobi P Sam is the producer of Petta Rap, which will feature cinematography by Jithu Damodhar, editing by Nishadh Yusuf, and music composed by D Imman. So far, the makers have unveiled the film's teaser and four songs, namely, 'Aarathi Aarathi', 'Athirattum Dum Dum Dum', 'Dance Dance' and 'Vechi Seyyuthe'. The film has cleared censorship formalities with a U/A certificate.

Petta Rap will be released in theatres on September 27 alongside Vijay Antony's Hitler and Karthi's Meiyazhagan.
