The makers of Rajinikanth's upcoming film Vettaiyan released a short glimpse of the song 'Manasilaayo' on Sunday. The voice of late singer Malaysia Vasudevan will be used for the song, making it the first time in 27 years that a Rajinikanth film will have the singer's rendering.

The song, composed by Anirudh, will be released on Monday. 'Manasilaayo' is a famous dialogue from Rajinikanth's last release, Jailer (2023), which went on to become a blockbuster.

Vasudevan's last song was 'Happy' from the film Bale Pandiya (2010), in the music of Devan Ekambaram. The singer passed away in 2011. His voice will be regenerated, presumably using AI.

Directed by TJ Gnanavel, Vettaiyan stars an ensemble cast that includes Amitabh Bachchan (in his Tamil debut), Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, Dushara Vijayan, and VJ Rakshan. Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth are reuniting for this film after 33 years.

The cast had recently finished dubbing for their portions in the film.
Vettaiyan marks Anirudh's fourth collaboration with Rajinikanth, after Petta (2019), Darbar (2020), and Jailer (2023). Other technical members include cinematographer SR Kathir and editor Philomin Raj.

Vettaiyan is scheduled to hit theatres on October 10 in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada.
