We had earlier reported that Sathyaraj will be joining the upcoming Rajinikanth film Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. On Sunday, it was revealed that Kannada actor Upendra will play the role of Kaleesha in the action thriller, along with a character look.

Sathyaraj, whose character is named Rajasekar, will share screen space with Rajini after the 1986 film Mr Bharath. Upendra, who last acted in Kabzaa (2023), will next be seen in the surrealist action thriller UI, which is also being directed by him.

Sathyaraj and Upendra join previously announced cast members like Nagarjuna, Shruti Haasan and Soubin Shahir. Further details about their characters are yet to be revealed.

Coolie, produced by Kalanithi Maran under his Sun Pictures banner, went on floors this July. The film has music by Anirudh Ravichander, cinematography by Girish Gangadharan, editing by Philomin Raj, and stunts by Anbariv.
