On Saturday, the makers of Karthi and Aravind Swami's upcoming film, Meiyazhagan, unveiled the film's completed jukebox. With six songs, the album has been composed by Govind Vasantha. The upcoming film is written and directed by C Prem Kumar.
'Poraen Naa Poraen' is the first song, which has lyrics by Uma Devi and is crooned by Vijay Narain and Kamal Haasan. The song seems to be a melancholic farewell song featuring a character who is departing from his home. The second song, 'Delta Kalyanam' penned by Karthik Netha, is a celebratory marriage song sung by VM Mahalingam, Senthil Ganesh, and Govind Vasantha.
Next, Vijay Prakash has rendered the 'Oor Manney' song, a nostalgic melody written by Karthik Netha. Kamal Haasan has lent his voice to another song, 'Yaaro Ivan Yaaro', which has verses by Uma Devi. The song 'Veri' has vocals by VM Mahalingam and Aruna. The intense song has lyrics by Karthik Netha. Lastly, the song 'Arul Mei', another melody, is sung by the composer and written again by Karthik.
Meiyazhagan is produced by Jyotika and Suriya under their banner, 2D Entertainment. Taking to his official X handle on Sunday, Suriya thanked Kamal Haasan for singing two songs in Meiyazhagan. He wrote, "Overwhelmed with gratitude! Huge thanks to Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan Anna for lending his iconic voice to Meiyazhagan's songs! His lilting tone has woven a spell of nostalgia that transports us to a world of emotions! Honoured & humbled by your love and support, Anna/Chitha." (sic)
Sri Divya will play the female lead in the film, which will also have Saran Shakti and Rajkiran in prominent roles. The rest of the cast includes Swathi Konde, Devadarshini, Jayaprakash, Sri Ranjani, Ilavarasu, Karunakaran, Saran, Rachel Rebecca, Anthony, Rajkumar, Indumati, Rani Samyukta, Kayal Subramani, and Ashok Pandian.
Meiyazhagan has cinematography by Mahendran Jayaraju and editing by R Govindraj. The film reunites Govind Vasantha and Prem Kumar after their blockbuster soundtrack in 96.
Meiyazhagan is all set for release on September 27.
