Suriya-starrer Kanguva will not release on October 10 in order to avoid a clash with Rajnikanth's Vettaiyan, confirmed Suriya. The actor, during his speech at the audio launch for the upcoming Karthi-starrer Meiyazhagan, mentioned that the film had been made with the hard work and passion of thousands of people and that the efforts would not go in vain.

He said they deemed it fit that Kanguva not clash with Vettaiyan on the same date and that Rajnikanth is a much more senior actor who has been the identity of Tamil cinema for decades. Although the makers of Kanguva had announced their release date earlier than the makers of Vettaiyan had, rumours started floating that the two big films releasing on the same date would not happen.

Kanguva also stars Bobby Deol, Disha Patani, Jagapathi Babu, Yogi Babu, Redin Kingsley, Kovai Sarala, Anandaraj, G Marimuthu, Ravi Raghavendra, KS Ravikumar, Ravi Raghavendra, BS Avinash and Deepa Venkat, among others. It is a fantasy period epic directed by Siva and produced by Studio Green and UV Creations.

Vettaiyan, directed by TJ Gnanavel and produced by Lyca Productions, stars an ensemble cast that includes Amitabh Bachchan (in his Tamil debut), Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, Dushara Vijayan and VJ Rakshan. It is said to be an action thriller.

Further details regarding Kanguva's release are being awaited.
