The much awaited trailer for the Sivakarthikeyan starrer Amaran was released on Wednesday. The film is based on the life of Major Mukund Varadarajan (Sivakarthikeyan), and is directed by Rajkumar Periasamy. Amaran also stars Sai Pallavi, Bhuvan Arora, and Rahul Bose, Lallu, Shreekumar, Shyam Mohan, Ajaey Naga Raaman, Mir Salman and Gaurav Venkatesh. It is based on India's Most Fearless: True Stories of Modern Millitary.

The trailer showcases stills from both the military and personal life of Mukund, including a hesitant mother, a charming romance, as well as political tensions in Kashmir. It showcases several scenes of action and combat, and a dailogue where Mukund presumably looks at a terrorist and says, "I am the face of the Indian Army." Major Mukund Varadarajan was a commissioned officer in the Indian Army's Rajput Regiment. He was posthumously awarded the Ashok Chakra for his act of bravery during a counterterrorism operation while on deputation to the 44th Rashtriya Rifles battalion in Jammu and Kashmir.

Amaran's crew includes music composer GV Prakash Kumar, cinematographer CH Sai, editor Kalaivanan, and stunt director Stefan Richter. The film is bankrolled by Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal Films International along with Sony Pictures International Productions.
