Fans celebrate Simbu-Trisha's Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa completing 1000 days upon re-release

Actors Silambarasan TR and Trisha starred in Gautham Vasudev Menon's romantic hit Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa, which released in 2010.

The film got a re-release over three years ago in PVR VR mall theatre in Chennai's Anna Nagar. The fans and makers are celebrating the film's 1000th day theatrical run upon its re-release on Monday.

The makers released a special poster marking this feat. Fans have been sharing on social media what they like the most about the film.

The film revolves around the complicated relationship between Karthik, a Tamil Hindu boy, and Jessie, a Malayali Christian girl. Karthik's pursuit of cinema and Jessie's conservative family background keeps throwing hammers at their relationship, which eventually results in a separation. The film was also made in Telugu simulataneously titled Ye Maaya Chesave, starring Samantha and Nagarjuna, and was remade in Hindi as Ekk Deewana Tha, starring Amy Jackson and Prateik Babbar in 2012.

During the Covid lockdown period, a short film, Karthik Dial Seytha Yenn, by Gautham Menon with STR and Trisha reprising their roles, was released in May 2020.
