We had earlier announced that RJ Balaji will be starring in debutant Sidharth Vishwanath's upcoming film Sorgavaasal. The first look of the film, which has RJ Balaji's mug shot image, looking distressed and standing in front of a flight of stairs in a dilapidated prison, was released by Pa Ranjith on Saturday.

According to the poster, the film's events are expected to take place in 1999 in Chennai. In the first announcement of Sorgavaasal which was released months ago, Netflix, which had bought the post-theatrical rights for the film wrote, "No door can stop this jailbreak. RJ Balaji will break down heaven's doors to come to you," hinting that the film will feature Balaji in the role of a criminal, who attempts to escape prison. However, the official plot of the film has been kept under wraps.

Sorgavaasal is written by Thamizh Praba, Ashwin Ravichandran and director Sidharth Vishwanath. It is to be noted that the director is an erstwhile assistant of noted filmmaker Pa Ranjith. The makers are yet to announce details regarding the rest of the cast members and a tentative release date.
