Clarifying on the rumours that stated Sathyaraj will essay the role of PM Modi in the latter's biopic, the actor categorically rejected the claims.

In his interview to Tamil news website Minnambalam, Sathyaraj said the report surprised him and his fans as well. He further said he was not even approached to play the BJP leader.

The actor's clarification comes in the backdrop of social media awash with claims of him playing Modi. Interestingly, he played social reformer Periyar EV Ramasamy in his biopic.

The actor, known for his proclivity to Periyarist ideology, added that he is not open to acting in roles that conflict his political ideology. Dismissing the rumours, the actor compared these reports to baseless newspaper stories written solely to create sensationalism.

The two-time PM already has a biopic on him that featured Vivek Oberoi in the lead, which was directed by Omung Kumar in 2019.

At present, Sathyaraj awaits the release of his action film Weapon, starring alongside Vasanth Ravi and Rajiv Menon. Weapon is slated for a theatrical release on May 23.
