Upcoming Tamil cinema music composer Praveen Kumar breathed his last on Thursday. He was 28.

According to reports, Praveen was getting treated for kidney-related ailments at a private hospital in Chennai before getting shifted to Omandurar GH at Royapettah, where he passed away this morning.

Hailing from Thanjavur's Vadakku Vaasal, Praveen Kumar started off as a keyboard player. He went on to score music for Raakadhan, Methagu, Kakkan, Raayar Parambarai and Bumper.

His death is condoled by Kollywood celebrities and fans. This development comes as a shock to the film fraternity since veteran singer Uma Ramanan too passed away late on Wednesday.

Praveen Kumar's funeral rites are expected to take place today at around 6 PM at his residence in his native place Thanjavur.
