Tamil film director Nelson Dilipkumar launched his production banner - Filament Pictures on Wednesday. He called owning a production company as his "constant wish".

The Jailer helmer in an official statement, said, "At Filament Pictures, our primary goal is to produce creative and interesting content that entertains a wider audience. We're kicking off with a project that perfectly embodies our vision and promises to be quirky and fun-filled."

He added that he would make the announcement of his first project on May 3.

Nelson last directed Rajinikanth-starrer Jailer, which was released on August, 2023. The film received mixed to positive reviews and ended up minting record collections at the box office. The film follows Muthuvel Pandian (Rajinikanth), who is a former jailer, and has to face off with a deadly criminal in order to save his kidnapped son (Vasanth Ravi).

He was rumoured to be working on the sequel to the film, but he clarified that he himself is not sure if Jailer 2 will be his next project and fans should wait for the official announcement.
