Pechi clears censorship formalities

The horror film stars Gayathrie Shankar and Bala Saravanan in lead roles

The makers of Pechi, the upcoming film starring Gayathrie Shankar and Bala Saravanan in lead roles, announced on Saturday that the film has cleared censorship formalities with a 'U/A' certificate. The upcoming horror film is written and directed by Ramachandran B.

The film is based on an eponymous short film directed by legendary filmmaker Balu Mahendra. The film reportedly revolves around age-old practices such as black magic and witchcraft.

Pechi's story comes from Ramachandran B and Vasanth Kumar. The film also stars Dev in a supporting role. Pechi will feature music composed by Rajesh Murugesan, cinematography by Parthiban, editing by Ignatious Aswin, and production design by Kumar Gangappan.

Pechi will be hitting theatres on August 2, alongside a lineup of films, including Yogi Babu's Boat, Vijay Antony's Mazhai Pidikkatha Manithan, Ananth's Nanban Oruvan Vandha Piragu, Pari Elavazhagan's Jama, and Nakkhul's Vasco Da Gama.
