On Friday, actor Prashanth took to his social media handles to announce that his upcoming film Andhagan is scheduled to hit theatres on August 15. The murder mystery, which was long in the making, is directed by Prashanth's father and veteran actor-director Thiagarajan.

Upon release, the film will clash with Vikram-Pa Ranjith's Thangalaan.

Andhagan is the official Tamil remake of Sriram Raghavan's 2018 film Andhadhun starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Tabu and Radhika Apte in lead roles.

The ensemble cast of Andhagan also stars Karthik, Samuthirakani, Yogi Babu, Oorvasi, KS Ravikumar, Vanitha Vijaykumar, Leela Samson, Poovaiyar, Besant Ravi and Mohan Vaithiya, among others. Late actor Manobala also has a role in the film as a police official.

On the technical team, the film has music by Santhosh Narayanan, cinematography by Ravi Yadav and editing by Sathish Suriya. The film, bankrolled by Staar Movies, is scheduled to be released in August. An exact date has not been disclosed yet.

It is to be noted that Andhadhun was remade in Telugu as Maestro (2021) starring Nithiin, Tamannaah, and Nabha Natesh, and in Malayalam as Bhramam (2021), with Prithviraj Sukumaran playing the lead.
