The makers of Vetrimaaran's Viduthalai 2, starring Soori in the lead, announced on Tuesday that the film's first look will be launched at 11.30 am on Wednesday. The film is the second part of the two-part adaptation of Jeyamohan's short story Thunaivan.

Viduthalai 2 will see Soori, Vijay Sethupathi, Chethan, Bhavani Sre, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Rajiv Menon, Ilavarasu, Balaji Sakthivel, Saravana Subbiah, and Munnar Ramesh reprising their role in the upcoming film.

Viduthalai revolves around Kumaresan (Soori), a constable, who is recruited to arrest Perumal (Vijay Sethupathi), a teacher and leader of a separatist group. Part 1 ended with the arrest of Perumal, while Part 2 is expected to delve further into the arrest and its consequences.

Viduthalai was initially announced as a single film in April 2021, with filming starting in December 2020 in locations like Sathyamangalam and Chengalpattu. However, in September 2022, it was revealed that the film would be divided into two parts.

The technical crew of Viduthalai comprises veteran music composer Ilaiyaraaja, cinematographer R Velraj and editor R Ramar. The film is backed by Elred Kumar and Vetrimaaran under the RS Infotainment and Grass Root Film Company banners.

Viduthalai 1 and 2 had their world premiere at the 53rd International Film Festival Rotterdam on January 31, 2024. A release date for the second part is yet to be announced by the makers.
