After the tremendous success of Santhanam's DD Returns, the third film in the Dhilluku Dhuddu franchise, a sequel to the film was announced on Sunday.

Actor and Santhanam's friend Arya has decided to back the film under his The Show People banner, along with Niharika Productions and Santhanam's Handmade Films. Arya will also present the film.

Arya and Santhanam have collaborated in Boss Engira Bhaskaran, Oru Kalluriyin Kathai, Raja Rani, Chikku Bukku, and Vasuvum Saravananum Onna Padichavanga, the former's 25th film.

Prem Anand, who returns as the director of the DD Returns sequel, said, "DD Returns, which was released in July last year, was a huge success with great response from audiences from all walks of life. We have been working on the script for its sequel for the past one year and have recently completed it. From children to adults, everyone will laugh and enjoy this flick too."

The sequel, he said, will be more exciting and hilarious than DD Returns. He said this film will be set against an island backdrop, with the narration beginning on a cruise ship.

Dipak Kumar Padhy handles cinematography, Ofro composes the music, Bharath is in charge of editing, and AR Mohan handles art direction. Pooja of the film took place yesterday, and the shooting is expected to commence soon.

DD Returns opened in theatres last July to an overwhelming positive response from critics and audiences.
