Santhanam's Vadakkupatti Ramasamy trailer out

The film will hit theatres on February 2

CE Features

The makers of Santhanam's Vadakkupatti Ramasamy released the film's trailer on Friday. The film is helmed by Karthik Yogi, who previously directed Santhanam's Dikkiloona.

The trailer starts by establishing that the film is set in a 'strange' village in 1974. We then see Santhanam as the titular Vadakkupatti Ramasamy, who seems to be a cleptomaniac when it comes to money. A possible outbreak of Madras Eye or Conjunctivitis and the chaos it causes in the village seems to form the central plot of the film.

Backed by People Media Factory, which has previously backed Goodachari and Witness, Vadakkupatti Ramasamy is billed as a period comedy-drama.

In an earlier conversation with CE, the director said, "The film deals with a real-life incident that happened in a village in the 1960s-70s. Also, Ramaswamy is an iconic Tamil name that continues to create waves, and we have explored layers and meanings behind that name."

Apart from Santhanam, the makers have roped in Jai Bhim-fame Tamizh, Megha Akash, John Vijay, MS Bhaskar, Rajendran, Seshu, Ravi Mariya, and Nizhalgal Ravi, among others.

With Sean Roldan composing the music, Vadakkupatti Ramasamy will have cinematography and editing by Deepak and Shiva Nandeeswaran, respectively. The film is all set to hit theatres on February 2.
