Santhanam's Vadakkupatti Ramasamy gets release date

CE Features

Last year, around the same time, we reported that Santhanam had joined hands once again with Dikkiloona director Karthik Yogi for his next, titled Vadakkupatti Ramasamy. On Sunday, the makers released the first look poster of the film and announced that the film will hit theatres on February 2.

The first-look poster features the actor with long hair, a trident in hand, and notes of money flying around him. The costume design and setting suggest that the film is set in the 80s. Backed by People Media Factory, which has previously backed Goodachari and Witness, Vadakkupatti Ramasamy is billed as a period comedy-drama.

In an earlier conversation with CE, the director said, "The film deals with a real-life incident that happened in a village in the 1960s-70s. Also, Ramaswamy is an iconic Tamil name that continues to create waves, and we have explored layers and meanings behind that name."

Apart from Santhanam, the makers have roped in Jai Bhim-fame Tamizh, Megha Akash, John Vijay, MS Bhaskar, Rajendran, Seshu, Ravi Mariya, and Nizhalgal Ravi, among others.

With Sean Roldan composing the music, Vadakkupatti Ramasamy will have cinematography and editing by Deepak and Shiva Nandeeswaran, respectively.
