A day after the second anniversary of Karthik Subbaraj's Mahaan, Vikram took to his official X handle to share photos of his look from the film, hinting at a sequel. He wrote, "Mahaan 2!!?" in the caption, cryptically revealing that a sequel to the film is in the works.

The makers of Mahaan are yet to give an official confirmation about the sequel, but there's no doubt that all eyes are on Vikram and Karthik Subbaraj. The 2022 film was also the first to star both Vikram and his son Dhruv Vikram. An action thriller, Mahaan released on Prime Video on February 10, during the pandemic.

The film also stars Simran, Bobby Simha, Aadukalam Naren, Sananth, Balaji Shakthivel, and others. Based on Gandhian principles, Mahaan revolves around Gandhi Mahaan (Vikram), a middle-aged schoolteacher who, after being abandoned by his family for one small mistake, embarks on a journey of self-discovery. Going against his Gandhian principles, he soon becomes a proud billionaire, but it comes with its own challenges.

Backed by SS Lalit Kumar of Seven Screen Studios, Mahaan received positive reviews. The film's technical crew comprises cinematographer Shreyaas Krishna, editor     Vivek Harshan and music director Santhosh Narayanan.

Meanwhile, Vikram is currently awaiting the release of Thangalaan, helmed by Pa Ranjith. He is also working on Chiyaan 62, helmed by SU Arunkumar.
