In an interview to the popular Tamil weekly Ananda Vikatan, the actor said that he received a call from Dhanush the Monday after Raayan's release and asked him to free-up dates. "Then Dhanush narrated to me the story of Idli Kadai. After 10 days, I joined the film's sets in Theni," he said, adding that it is due to the love for films that everything happened this quick.
