Actor Samuthirakani once again takes on the role of a caring father in his upcoming film Thiru Manickam, written and directed by Nandha Periyasamy. The film, also starring Bharathiraja in a key role, is set to be released on December 20.

The 1.52-minute-long trailer begins with Thiru Manickam's daughter explaining how their family was extremely happy, loving and caring, but their lives were upturned one day when Manickam becomes embroiled in an issue and is subjected to scrutiny by media and violence by police and a few goons. Although much details about the exact issue is kept under wraps, it seems like Manickam wants to prove himself as an innocent man and wants to return to his normal life.

Nandha Periyasamy has previously helmed  Anandham Vilayadum Veedu, and written the screenplay for Rashmi Rocket. Thambi Ramaiah, Ananya, Nassar, Gracy, Sriman, Karunakaran, Chaams, Vadivukarasi, and Ilavarasu, among others, round out the supporting cast of Thiru Manickam. Details about the film's plot are scant.

GP Ravi Kumar, Chinta Gopala Krishna Reddy and Raja Senthil are backing Thiru Manickam, under the GPRK Cinemas banner. The film's technical crew comprises cinematographer Sukumar M, editor Guna and music composer Vishal Chandrashekar. Thiru Manickam was shot in areas such as Kumuli, Thekkady, and Munnar.
