Kannada actor Upendra officially announced on his social media handle that he would be a part of the star cast of the Rajinikanth-led Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj.

Upendra wrote that he feels blessed to share screenspace with his idol superstar Rajinikanth in Coolie.

Upendra, who last acted in Kabzaa (2023), will next be seen in the surrealist action thriller UI, which is also being directed by him.

It was earlier reported that Shruti Haasan and Sathyraj too would be seen alongside Rajinikanth in the film. Sathyaraj last shared screen space with Rajini 38 years ago in the 1986 film Mr Bharath.

The plot details and the rest of the cast are not known yet.

On the technical team, Coolie has music by Anirudh, cinematography by Girish Gangadharan, and editing by Philomin Raj. The dialogues for the film are written by Lokesh along with Chandhru Anbazhagan, who has also written the additional screenplay for the film.

Produced by Kalanithi Maran under his Sun Pictures banner, Coolie is scheduled to release in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, and Kannada.

Rajinikanth also has Vettaiyan, by TJ Gnanavel, up for release on October 10.
