Kalanithi Maran, whose Sun Pictures made the recent Dhanush film Raayan, congratulated the actor-director on the film's success.

Sun Pictures posted a photo of Maran handing over a couple of cheques to Dhanush. The caption read, "Mr. Kalanithi Maran congratulated @dhanushkraja for the grand success of #Raayan and presented 2 cheques to him - one for the hero and one for the director."

The film opened to mixed to positive reviews. Our CE review of the film read, "If Dhanush so chose, he could have treated Raayan as a film with elevation moment after elevation moment, set piece after set piece, but he doesn’t. He observes fascinating restraint and steps into the action zone quite carefully each time.

Raayan also stars Sundeep Kishan, Kalidas Jayaram, Aparna Balamurali, Selvaraghavan, Saravanan, Prakash Raj, and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar in prominent roles. The film is written and directed by Dhanush and marks his sophomore directorial and 50th feature film.

Raayan has cinematography by Om Prakash, editing by Prasanna GK, stunts by Peter Hein, and dance choreography by Prabhu Deva and Baba Baskar. The film is all set to premiere on Prime Video on August 23.
