Rajinikanth's Vettaiyan to clash with Suriya's Kanguva in theatres

Rajinikanth's Vettaiyan now has a release date. The film, directed by TJ Gnanavel, is all set to hit theatres on October 10. Suriya and Siva's Kanguva is also slated for release on the same day. Rajinikanth is all set to feature as an IPS officer in the upcoming film. 

An action drama, Vettaiyan is backed by Lyca Productions, and also stars Amitabh Bachchan in his Tamil debut. The film's extended ensemble cast comprises Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati,  Manju Warrier, Jisshu Sengupta, Ritika Singh, and Dushara Vijayan.  Rohini, Abhirami, and VJ Rakshan play supporting roles in the upcoming film. 

It is to be noted that Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth are reuniting for a film after 33 years. Their collaboration dates back to films like Andhaa Kaanoon (1983), and Geraftaar (1985). Their last film was Hum, which was released in 1991.

Rajinikanth's 170th film, Vettaiyan's technical crew comprises music composer Anirudh, cinematographer S R Kathir and editor Philomin Raj. The film marks Anirudh's fourth collaboration with Rajinikanth after Petta, Darbar, and Jailer. 

Vettaiyan is currently in post-production, and will be released in theatres in  Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi.
