On Sunday, Netflix announced that Kamal Haasan's latest outing in theatres, Indian 2, will premiere on the streaming platform on August 9. The Shankar directorial hit theatres on July 12 and opened to unfavourable reviews. 

A sequel to the 1996 film Indian, Indian 2 also stars Siddharth, Rakul Preet Singh, SJ Suryah, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Bobby Simha, Samuthirakani, Brahmanandam, and others. The film also features the late actors Vivek, Nedumudi Venu, and Manobala. 

In Indian 2, Kamal Haasan's Senapathy returns to India from abroad after over two decades to aid a group in dealing with corruption in the country. The film will be followed by Indian 3, the third film in the franchise. 

The technical team of Indian 2 comprises music composer Anirudh, cinematographer Ravi Varman, and editor A Sreekar Prasad. The film is produced by Lyca Productions and Red Giant Movies.
