Social media was abuzz with speculations about the sequel of Rajinikanth-Nelson's hit film Jailer.

Reports are rife that Jailer's sequel has been tentatively titled Hukum, title of the song from the film that was celebrated by Rajini's fans. The reports also state the pre-production work of the sequel is going on and the filming will take place in late 2024 or early 2025.

However, there is no official word on any of these developments from the makers.

It is worth noting that director Nelson clarified a month ago saying he is unsure if Jailer 2 will be his next project and fans should wait for the official announcement.

The rumour mill about Jailer 2 begun with actor Mirnaa Menon, who played Rajinikanth's daughter-in-law in Jailer, said in an interview that Nelson is working on the script of Jailer 2 and whether she being a part of it or not is completely the director's call.

Jailer was released on August 9 in 2023 to mixed to positive response. The film follows Muthuvel Pandian (Rajinikanth), who is a former jailer, and has to face off with a deadly criminal in order to save his kidnapped son (Vasanth Ravi). The film turned out to be a huge box-office success.

Meanwhile, Rajinikanth is busy shooting for TJ Gnanavel's Vettaiyan and his 171st film with Lokesh Kanagaraj will go on floors soon.
