It is well known that director H Vinoth, who last directed Thunivu with Ajith Kumar in the lead role, is teaming up with Kamal Haasan for KH 233. The official announcement was made regarding the project in July 2023.

Although no information about the cast and crew has been out at the moment, the makers have released a video showcasing the Vikram actor undergoing gun training for the film. The 35-second video showed Kamal aiming and shooting at targets as a part of the intense training. Raaj Kamal Films International, Kamal's production house backing the film titled the video, "Guts and Guns."

Earlier, the title announcement video for KH 233 featuring a back shot of Kamal holding a flaming torch in his hand was released. The film has a story penned by Kamal Haasan himself and a screenplay by Vinoth. 

Kamal, who is currently busy shooting for Shankar's long-awaited Indian 2, is expected to begin working on Prabhas' Project K which is now titled Kalki 2898 AD, directed by Nag Ashwin before starting KH 233. The National Award-winning actor also has a film with Mani Ratnam in the lineup, which is referred to as KH 234.
