Earlier, we reported that actor Manikandan has joined hands with debutant filmmaker Prabhu Ram Vyas for a romantic drama. On Thursday, actor Silambarasan released the film's first look poster and also announced its title to be Lover.

The film also stars Modern Love Chennai-fame Gouri Priya Reddy and Kanna Ravi in prominent roles. Opening up about Lover, director Vyas says, "Lover will talk about what goes into making a relationship work. It will portray the dynamics in a relationship between a man and a woman."

Vyas has previously helmed the YouTube web series LIVIN, which starred Kanna Ravi and Amrutha Srinivasan in prominent roles. That series too revolves around contemporary live-in relations. On whether Lover is similar to LIVIN, he says, "While LIVIN had a light-hearted take on modern relationships, Lover will be a little more serious with drama and intense emotions involved."

While Kanna Ravi was an easy choice because of their previous work together, the director says he went for an audition to choose Gouri Priya Reddy. "I pitched Lover to Manikandan even before Jai Bhim was released. I was quite sure that he should play my lead. We selected Gouri's through an audition, where she outperformed everyone. She was perfect for the female lead I had written."

Be it LIVIN or Lover, Vyas is straightforward with his titles. "I wish to go for simple titles because I believe it makes it easier for people to know what the film is about. The attention span of the modern generation is very less, so shorter and catchy titles will ensure they remember my film."

With Sean Roldan composing music for Lover, the technical crew of the film includes Shreyaas Krishna as the cinematographer, Barath Vikraman as the editor and Rajkamal as the production designer.

Lover has been filmed in and around Chennai and in a few scenic locations in Gokarna. Million Dollar Studios and M R P Entertainment, who backed Manikandan's hit film Goodnight, are producing Lover as well.

The film's shoot was recently wrapped. Director Vyas said that the makers are planning to release the film on Valentine's Day, but it is yet to be finalised.
