Yaathisai, the recently released Tamil film, is set to stream on Prime Video on May 12, the platform announced on social media.

Yaathisai is a periodical fiction based on the 7th-century Pandiyan prince Ranadheera Pandiyan. He ruled during a time when the Chola dynasty lost its power, and its people were forced to live in the woods. The film focuses on the fight for justice and power against the backdrop of ancient Tamil Nadu.

“Filmmaker Dharani Rasendran's Yaathisai is both the story of the oppressor and the oppressed. The director makes a daring statement the latter is no better when the roles are reversed and it is the animalistic urge to overpower the others that ultimately wins,” notes Cinema Express in its review of the film.

Yaathisai is backed by Venus Infotainment and Six Star Entertainment. The film stars Shakthi Mithran, Seyon, Rajalakshmi, and Guru Somasundram, among others. The film's technical crew includes cinematographer Akilesh Kathamuthu, editor Mahendran Ganesan, music composer Chakravarthy and art director Ranjith Kumar.

The film opened to positive reception.
