Ponniyin Selvan 2  surpasses 300 crores at the box office

The first part of the film was a colossal hit, grossing 500 crores at the box office

The second instalment of Mani Ratnam's directorial venture, Ponniyin Selvan, continues to triumph at the box office. The film has grossed 300 crores at the box office. The makers announced the news through their social media platforms. 

Adapted by Mani Ratnam along with Elango Kumaravel and B Jeyamohan, from the text of Kalki Krishnamurthy, the film was released in two parts, the first part hit the screens in September 2022, and the second released on April 28. both the films opened to positive reception, and the first part of the film was a colossal hit, grossing 500 crores at the box office  

Ponniyin Selvan, which is set in the reign of the Chola empire, boasts an ensemble cast including Vikram, Aishwarya Rai, Karthi, Trisha, and Jayam Ravi in the lead roles, along with cast comprising Prabhu, Sarathkumar, Prakash Raj, Jayaram, Aishwarya Lekshmi and others.

Backed by Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies, Ponniyin Selvan has music scored by AR Rahman. The post-theatrical rights of the film are bagged by Prime Video.
