With Ponniyin Selvan II set to hit the theatres on April 28, the film's first single, Aga Naga, is all set to release on March 20. Composed by AR Rahman, the song is sung by Shakthisree Gopalan. Ilango Krishnan has written the lyrics for the song. 

Taking to her Twitter, singer Shakthisree Gopalan penned a note about singing the song. "Where do I even begin to express what is going on in my heart right now gratitude & infinite love to AR Rahman sir for a lifetime of inspiration & magic. Thanking the universe and the forces that be," she wrote, ending it with, "I don’t think I can sleep tonight." (sic)

Directed by Mani Ratnam Ponniyin Selvan I was received very well and minted big at the box office. The epic period film also features Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prabhu, R. Sarathkumar, Vikram Prabhu, Jayaram, Prakash Raj, Rahman and R Parthiban.

The film, based on Kalki Krishnamurthy's novel, is adapted by Mani Ratnam, along with Elango Kumaravel and B Jeyamohan. Produced under the Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions banners, Ponniyin Selvan was shot by Ravi Varman, while AR Rahman composed the music. The technical crew includes editor A Sreekar Prasad and production designer Thota Tharani.
