Dhanush's Vaathi enters 100 crore club

Vaathi/Sir, the recently released Dhanush-starrer has collected Rs 100 crore at the box office during its theatrical run, the makers announced on social media on Saturday.

The film released in theatres on February 17.

A Tamil-Telugu bilingual, the film is directed by Venky Atluri and produced by Sithara Entertainments. Vaathi is a period social drama, which is set in the 90s. In the film, Dhanush plays a junior professor who is on a mission to correct the educational system that is corrupted by privatisation of institutions.

Besides Dhanush, the film also features Samyuktha, Samuthirakani, Sai Kumar, Tanikella Bharani, Thotapalli Madhu, Aadukalam Naren, Ken Karunas, and Ilavarasu.

Vaathi has music composed GV Prakash Kumar and cinematography by J Yuvraj. Navin Nooli is the editor. The post-theatrical right of the film bagged by Netflix.

Recently the producer of the film Naga Vamsi announced the makers decision to screen the film free of cost for school-going children, in order to spread awareness about value of education.
