On Tuesday, actor Sarath Kumar took to Twitter to pen a note celebrating 26 years of his iconic classic hit film Suryavamsam (1997). In the tweet, the actor also said that the sequel is coming soon.

On the social media platform, he wrote, "Although we have come a long way in the film industry and there has been a great development in technology, one film that has managed to hold a strong place in the minds of the audience is Suryavamsam, which released 26 years ago today. Thanks to all the fans who enjoyed and supported the film wholly. Suryavamsam 2 is coming soon."

The family drama written and directed by Vikraman had Sarathukumar playing a dual role while Devayani played the female lead. Upon release, the film clashed with big films like Rajinikanth’s Arunachalam and Vijay’s Love Today, and emerged as the biggest box office winner of the year. Suryavamsam was subsequently remade into other languages like Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi.
