Subramaniapuram to re-release in theatres 

The film recently completed 15 years since its release in 2008

Marking 15 years since the release of Subramaniapuram, the Tamil film will see a re-release in theatres on August 4.

Subramaniapuram is a period action film which was written and directed by Sasikumar in his directorial debut. The film also starred Jai, Swathy, Samuthirakani, Ganja Karuppu, among others. Released in 2008, the film was met with a critical acclaim and box office success.

The film is set against the backdrop of the 1980s Madurai and centres around a revenge entangled within a love story. At various instances filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has mentioned that the film served as an inspiration for his film Gangs of WasseypurSubramaniapuram had music by James Vasanthan and cinematography by SR Kathir. 

Meanwhile, Sasikumar was last seen in Ayothi. He will be next seen in Pagaivanuku Arulvai and untitled Tamil film alongside Naveen Chandra. However, while celebrating 15 years of Subramaniapuram, Sasikumar revealed that he will back to the director’s chair. The filmmaker-actor is set to helm a web series.
