AR Rahman compares Chevalier to Maamannan

"Humans are the same everywhere," the music composer wrote on Twitter

On Wednesday, music composer AR Rahman took to Twitter to compare his most recent film Maamannan to Stephen Williams' 2022 American biographical drama film, Chevalier

On the social media platform, the musician shared the film's trailer and wrote, "Loved watching this movie on the Emirates flight. So similar to the Mamannan vibe. Humans are the same everywhere :-(" (sic)

AR Rahman composed music for Maamannan, which is helmed by Mari Selvaraj. The film stars Udhayanidhi Stalin, Vadivelu, Fahadh Faasil and Keerthy Suresh in lead roles. Maamannan hit theatres on June 29 and opened to favourable reviews. 

Chevalier is based on the life of an extraordinary violinist and composer, sometimes described as Black Mozart; French-Caribbean musician Joseph Bologne. The film stars Kelvin Harrison Jr, Minnie Driver, Samara Weaving, Maron Csokas, Lucy Boyton, Alec Newman, Sian Clifford, Alex Fitzalan, and Ronke Adekoluejo. Chevalier debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2022 receiving critical acclaim. 

Rahman has composed music for a number of films that are in the post-production stage, including, Maidaan, Aadujeevitham, and Ayalaan. His upcoming projects include Aanand L Rai's Tere Ishk Mein, the Kamal Haasan-Mani Ratnam film KH234, and Jayam Ravi's 35th film Genie
