16 Vayathinile producer SA Rajkannu passes away

The producer was 80 years old

Veteran Tamil producer SA Rajkannu passed away on Tuesday. The 80-year-old producer was known for producing films like 16 Vayathinile, Mahanadhi and Enga Chinna Rasa among others. 

The legendary producer reportedly suffered a fall at his house a month ago and was taking treatment for the same. The producer, however, succumbed to his fall, as he could not recover. 

SA Rajkannu is celebrated for introducing a veteran like Bharathiraja in the film. Other films backed by the producer include Kanni Paruvathile, Kizhakke Pogum Rail, Valibamey Vaa Vaa, and Ponnu Pudichirukku, among others. 

Actor Kamal Haasan took to Twitter to pen a note mourning the demise of the producer. He wrote in Tamil, "The talented producer SA Rajkannu, who gave many great movies to Tamil that never left the hearts of the fans, has passed away. The important films of my screen life like 16 Vayathinile and Mahanadi were produced by him. My deepest condolences to his family and friends."
