It was announced earlier today by The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences that Parthiban's Iravin Nizhal is one of the feature films that are eligible for the 95th Oscars. 

In a lengthy on Twitter, Parthiban expressed his mixed emotions about his film being a part of the list. "Iravin Nizhal is just a part of Oscar eligible list, but RRR has been shortlisted by the academy and has a bright chance at winning the award. It is definitely a proud moment for us. But it is an open truth that all similar big-budget Hollywood undergo campaigning to reach this stage. Directors Ram, Vignesh Shivn and Vetrimaaran can vouch for this. The budget spent on the campaigning is negligible for top grossers."

He went on to add that he spent close to 20 lakhs to screen Oththa Seruppu Size 7 in vain previously. "So I chose not to have a screening this time for Iravin Nizhal. But I would like to repeat that we can take pride in the fact that RRR has been able to gain this much-needed attention."

Iravin Nizhal starred Parthiban, Brigida Saga, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Robo Shankar and Priyanka Ruth in the lead and has music by AR Rahman.
