Close on the heels of releasing the much-awaited Varisu trailer, which is creating new records as this copy is being typed, the makers have announced the release date.

Varisu is set to be released worldwide on January 11. Incidentally, Ajith Kumar's Thunivu too booked the same date earlier today. So, the much-hyped clash between Ajith and Vijay at the Pongal box office is indeed going to happen this year for the first time in nine years. The last time the films of the Superstars clashed was in 2014 when Vijay's Jilla wrestled it out with Ajith's Veeram.

Directed by Vamshi Paidipally, Varisu, which is releasing in Telugu as Vaarasudu, stars an ensemble cast including the likes of Sarath Kumar, Jayasudha, Rashmika Mandanna, Shaam, Srikanth, Samyuktha, Sangeetha, Prakash Raj, Khushbu, Yogi Babu, and VTV Ganesh, among others.

Produced by Sri Venkateswara Creations and PVP Cinema, Varisu has music by Thaman, and cinematography by Karthik Palani.
