Thalaikoothal, the recently released Tamil film starring Samuthirakani, Kathir, Vasundhara, among others, is set to stream on Netflix from March 3.

The film released in theatres on February 3 in theatres and is backed by Y Not Studios. The film is directed by Jayaprakash Radhakrishnan, who previously helmed Lens and The Mosquito Philosophy.

Thalaikoothal borrows its title from a traditional practice of senicide or involuntary euthanasia, by their own family members, practised in certain parts of southern Tamil Nadu. The film is about how Samuthirakani takes care of his father who is bed-ridden and in vegetative state. He is coerced by people around him to practise Thalaikoothal. With the film having some elements of magic realism, Kathir plays the younger version of the father, while Vasundhara plays Samuthirakani’s wife.

The technical crew consists of cinematography by Martin Donraj, with Dani Charles as the editor.
