Athiyan Athirai next film is titled Thandakaaranayam. He made his debut with the critically acclaimed Irandam Ulagaporin Kadaisi Gundu in 2019.  The film is based on a screenplay written by the director. His upcoming film is being backed by Pa Ranjith's Neelam Productions in association with Learn and Teach Production. The first look poster for the film, which revealed the title of the film, was released by Neelam Production's official Twitter handle today.

The ensemble cast of the film includes Kalaiyarasan, Attakathi Dinesh, Riythvika, Vinsu Sam, Shabeer Kallarakkal, and Bala Saravanan. Pratheep Kaliraja will be handling the cinematography for the film while Selva RK takes care of the editing. Justin Prabhakaran, known for films like Radhe Shyam and Gatta Kusthi, is composing the music for the film.
