Earlier, we reported producer, actor and director CV Kumar announced the next film in the Pizza film series, Pizza 4. On Sunday, the makers announced that Abi Hassan will be headling the fourth instalment of the Pizza franchise.

Abi Hassan, son of veteran actor Nassar, is known for his performance in films like Kadaram Kondan and Sila Nerangalil Sila Manidhargal. Pizza 4 has its story and screenplay penned by SJ Arjun, who has previously worked as a writer for films like Ratsasan, Mark Antony, and the upcoming Soodhu Kavvum 2. While the film is scheduled to go on floors in January, more details about the cast and crew are yet to come.

In an official statement, producer CV Kumar of Thirukumaran Entertainment said, "Following the success of the first three parts of Pizza, we are very happy to produce the fourth instalment. I am confident the film will meet the expectations of the fans and continue the successful journey of Pizza. The shooting will begin after Pongal." S Thangaraj of Thangam Cinemas will co-produce Pizza 4

Abi Hassan shared his excitement to be roped into the project as a lead. "Knowing producer CV Kumar since childhood, it's a great pleasure and honour to act in his film for the first time. I am happy that he has chosen me for Pizza 4 as he is reputed for promoting quality stories and talented youngsters," he said.

The Pizza film franchise began 11 years ago, with Karthik Subbaraj's directorial debut of the same name. The second film in the franchise, Pizza 2: The Villa, was helmed by Deepan Chakravarthy. Pizza 3: The Mummy recently hit theatres on July 28 this year, and was helmed by Mohan Govind. While Pizza 1 was both a commercial success and a critically acclaimed film, both Pizza 2 and 3 have not seen the success that the original film witnessed.
